In summer 2009 TALI will conduct its first Early Childhood Teacher Training Workshop in Xining and Lhasa. Around one hundred Tibetan teachers will take advantage of this workshop. As kindergarten education is gaining ground in Tibetan areas in the People's Republic of China, this workshop will provide Tibetan teachers with materials and instruction to help them develop a Tibetan-language kindergarten curriculum. Highly experienced Montessori teachers and consultants from the United States will travel to Xining and Lhasa to conduct the workshop.

a project partly supported by TALI.

Relevant materials about education and child development have been transated into Tibetan for this workshop. A group of TALI volunteers, under the guidance of Montessori-trained teacher Ms. Lhamo Pemba, have designed the first set of Montessori Tibetan-language classroom activities to teach a variety of subjects at kindergarten level.

Montessori sand-paper Tibetan letters were made to teach Tibetan at kindergarten level.

Every year TALI sends books, educational materials and art supplies to schools, kindergarten centers and libraries in Tibet. Some beneficiaries of these programs have been Tibet Library (Lhasa), the Tibetan class at the Longyuan Art Kindergarten (Xining) and the Cemenlin Tibetan Kindergarten (Lhasa).
